An MoU was signed between Don Bosco and IG Drones in order to establish a ‘Drone Center of Excellence’ at Don Bosco Private ITI, Kuarmunda, with a collective objective to educate students about the latest drone technologies. Under this MoU, both the parties have agreed upon enhancing the training infrastructure at Don Bosco with a common goal to provide quality technical education to the talented youth of the nation.
The MoU Exchange ceremony was carried out virtually in the gracious presence of Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra Sir, Head Skill Development & Board Member; Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, CEO; Om Prakash Das, COO; Sambit Parida, CTO, IG Drones; Father Antree Ka, Program Manager and Bro Praful Lakra, Principal, Don Bosco Private ITI, Kuarmunda.
According to global market intelligence and advisory firm BIS Research, the global drone market, which is currently dominated by the US, China and Israel, will touch $28.47 billion this year, and India will comprise about 4.25 per cent of that. Consequently, the Indian drone market is expected to reach $1.21 billion in 2021.
Despite such promising figures, the reality is quite different. It’s been more than a decade since drones hit mainstream through action cameras and casual aerial photography. Yet, UAVs are still regarded as a novelty or an emerging category within the deep-tech industry in the Indian context.
India has already decided to emerge as a leader in drone technology. According to the reports by Drone Federation India, there are at least 100 drone manufacturers, 200 drone service providers and over 1 lakh drone pilots in India. And the drone industry is sure to generate around 5-7 lakh job opportunities for people all over the nation. Despite such fast-paced progress, the only hindrance on the path of the nation’s development lies in the lack of well-trained youth. Thus, through this collaboration, both parties will work together to produce a brigade of youth in IG Drone’s advanced Drone Center of Excellence equipped with knowledge related to drone technology.
“Our collaboration with IG Drones is going to play a crucial role in impart technical knowledge both by theoretical and practical methods to the students. I believe this will definitely help them step into industries, become financially stable and serve the country as honest and industrious citizens.”
– Father Antree Ka, Project Manager

We also aim at providing performance-based placement support to the trained pilots.” saysMr Om Prakash Das, Chief Operating Officer, IG Drones.
