In a remarkable display of determination and passion, 18-year-old Subhodip Chakraborty from Uttarpara, Howrah, has carved a niche for himself in the world of independent cinema. Facing financial challenges after being scammed by a producer, Subhodip sold his mobile phone to fund his dream of creating an independent short film, Byomkesh Checkmate.
Subhodip, also known as “The Bong Antorjami” by his followers, is a multifaceted artist and a budding filmmaker. Currently pursuing a diploma in Computer Science Engineering at Brainware University, his journey into the creative arts showcases his dedication to storytelling and acting. His work focuses on heartfelt narratives that resonate deeply with audiences.
His creative pursuits began with a web series titled Mishti Doi, followed by a heartwarming short film, Ajobpur. These projects marked his initial steps into filmmaking. With Byomkesh Checkmate, based on the iconic fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi created by Sharadindu Bandhopadhyay, Subhodip has taken his passion to the next level. The trailer for the film was recently unveiled at Sujata Sadan, in the presence of esteemed artists, earning him recognition in the INKZOID Book of Records.
