With more than 26 years of professional life in the field of Journalism, Corporate Communications, and Human Resource Management, Sanjeev Shekhar has experienced a variety of careers.
He started his career as a journalist with the Hindustan Times in 1994 and worked with major media houses like Star News and Channel-7, thereby acquiring stints in both electronic and print media.
As a child, he used to write and narrate stories that were based on facts but his imagination made them fictional always. He was fond of comic books like Asterix, Lotpot, Phantom, Amar Chitra Katha, and Tinkle for a long time. His imagination was fired when he started experiencing life particularly when he joined journalism as a career. He could see stories all around. Be it the cycle repair shop owner or the top businessmen, he always thought there is a story in the life of every individual. This is how his thoughts started building and his first book, Beyond News, was inspired by real-life happenings that were stitched together to make it a story for education and entertainment.

Meet Ameya Agrawal, a 28-year-old engineer turned social entrepreneur and CEO of Mahatma Gandhi Seva Sangh (MGSS), an NGO dedicated to the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (PWDs) and promoting accessibility and inclusion. Ameya’s commitment to community service began during his college days when he facilitated a social project for college students. Since then, he has been actively engaged in positively impacting the community.
In 2020, Ameya left his corporate job to work full-time in the social sector, joining MGSS as CEO to work for the inclusion, accessibility, and rehabilitation of PWDs. Under his leadership, MGSS conceptualized and implemented the ‘Akola Pattern’ project, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India that mapped the socio-economic status of disabled individuals through home-to-home surveys of over 15 lakh people in the Akola district, identifying 45000+ PWDs. The project was lauded by the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the State Commissioner of Disability, and is now being followed by all districts in Maharashtra.
On World Disability Day 2022, both MGSS and the ‘Akola Pattern’ project won National Awards, presented by the Hon’ble President of India. During the pandemic, Ameya’s NGO SkillSlate Foundation trained 25,000+ individuals, including Directors, Deans, Professors, Teachers, Students, and Professionals across India and abroad in domains ranging from Soft Skills and Personality Development to industry-specific technical disciplines such as Big Data and Cybersecurity.
Ameya’s work has earned him admission to the coveted Harvard University and the London School of Economics to pursue his Master’s Degree. However, he dropped out of Harvard to continue working on social impact in India and is currently pursuing his MBA from IIM Kozhikode, Kerala.
